Welcome to Gilmore Women: Two journalists discuss everything that’s wrong with every episode of Gilmore Girls & why we still love it.
You may or may not have noticed that Gilmore Women has taken an unscheduled break right in the middle of season 7! Or perhaps you’re still catching up on previous seasons and haven’t noticed at all. TV is weird and beautiful like that — and the breaks really just make the new stuff all the more worthwhile.
The truth of the matter is that we have both been absolutely swamped with other work. BUT we will be back with the rest of season 7 later this summer.
While we have you hooked on images of Rory reading — which also provide photographic evidence that Rory basically stopped reading when she started dating Logan, except for grinning maniacally while reading Joan Didion’s absolutely devastating THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING!?!?! — might we suggest some reading to fill the gap while you wait for our next installment?
Maggie’s book BETTER FASTER FARTHER: HOW RUNNING CHANGED EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT WOMEN is out TODAY. And if you like this newsletter, we think you’ll love it. While Lorelai and Rory might not have ever run a step in their lives, we like to think that Rory might actually pick this one up for the feminist history and cultural critique.
And if you can’t handle waiting for our forthcoming pop culture analysis, we encourage you to check out Megan’s newsletter, Burbank Industries, where she has you covered, whether you want to read about the queer subtext in the Bachelor Franchise, the cruel teen girls of Yellowjackets, the LA backlot that plays the role of Stars Hollow, the odd appeal of And Just Like That, or the genius of Britney Spears.
About Maggie’s book: Kirkus gave it a starred review and noted specifically Maggie’s “bitingly bemused tone,” which she thinks she perfected right here at Gilmore Women.
And if any of you lovely readers happen to be on the West Coast, you can come see Maggie on her Book Tour in Seattle, Bellingham, Portland, Corte Madera, Los Angeles, and San Diego. And if any of you are in Bellingham, Washington, you have the incredible opportunity to see Maggie and Megan in conversation!
Haha, it’s weird to be perceived!
If you’re a Gilmore Women reader, you know this will be a treat. You can ask us questions about Gilmore Girls! Or running! Or Sylvia Plath! Truly, anything goes. We hope to see you in person soon. And definitely in your inboxes later this summer.
Happy reading!

Maggie,
Kenn and I (your old and former neighbors) are so looking forward to your book launch tonight at Elliott Bay.
Congratulations. I can’t wait to read the book.

Congrats, Maggie!
