lol, you had the same idea I did! I decided to try my hand at a substack for silly Christmas movies this year. I kinda loved Hot Frosty (and believe it’s absolutely intentionally silly, and kinda smart about it sometimes), barely got through Merry Gentlemen with my boyfriend but did enjoy the dancing, and was shocked last year to discover that A Biltmore Christmas is ALMOST A REAL MOVIE? My mom and I actually paused it to get snacks in between, which we never do for hallmark movies ever. Hope you both have a happy holiday season!

I enjoyed Hot Frosty, and I actually really loved A Biltmore Christmas when I watched it last year when it premiered. My sister and I watched it with our mom on our actual birthday so that was fun!

Hot Frosty was a bit silly, but it was funny and sweet, and easy to have on in the background while I wrapped presents.

I think His Merry Wife (the movie in A Biltmore Christmas) is an analog to The Bishop’s Wife, a Cary Grant 1940s favorite of my mom’s and mine where Cary Grant plays an angel and somehow makes it work? There was an interesting remake in like the 90s with Whitney Houston about a Black church.

The Preacher’s Wife was in the nineties and was a huge favorite at my house growing up (we are all big Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington fans, and the soundtrack is still on repeat for me at this time of year).

My daughter and the babies in my class have been hearing me sing “Who Could Imagine a King?” for all of December…I haven’t even watched the movie in years, but the soundtrack is awesome! We’re talking about letting our daughter watch it next Christmas when she’s 6- she’s been watching some of our other 90s faves like Angels in the Outfield and A Little Princess.
